Whats Your Take On Independence

Whats Your Take On Independence Did you miss the July Ms Career Girl Newsletter?  Here it is for your convenience! What’s your take on Independence? In the United States, July is the time for celebrating Independence Day.   Meanwhile, we’ve all been witness to Brexit, the decision of Great Britain to separate itself from European Community.   At first glance, the two don’t appear to be related.   On closer look, there’s an underlying theme that is worthy of a bit more consideration. We’re all most familiar with the term “independence” as it relates to politics.   Hardly a day goes by with a news story of some political entity somewhere in the world seeking to be autonomous and to cut itself free from larger governing bodies.   But it seems to me this is just an outward manifestation of the fire that burns within all of us as individuals.   The desire to be free and independent.   The right to choose our own path.   The opportunity to make our mark on life and be the master of our own destiny. Over the past few months, Ms Career Girl has published a number of articles that encourage an independent, entrepreneurial attitude of living. What better time of year to focus in on that than now, when the eyes and minds of the world are watching both the results and the current process of declaring one’s independence. In our busy world, it’s easy to become lost in the gears of the cultural and economic machines that hum around us.   It seems like we’re an inconsequential and replaceable cog that at any moment might be discarded for the next newer and better version.   But what if we raised up our head and reconnected to the fire that burns within us?   What if we decided that our dreams and goals and passions are worthy of declaring our own personal independence? Of course, such a declaration is never without risk.   Sometimes, the costs of such daring are severe.   But uniformly, there are huge benefits even when we fall short of our goal.   For we have come one step closer to it.   I’m reminded of this super inspirational video that shouts “claim your place in the world.” Take a look. All of us have dreams, we have a purpose that yearns to be set free.   In these times of national celebrations of independence and unfolding declarations of independence, why not declare yours? I’ve gathered some of my favorite articles from Ms Career Girl columnists, as well as around the web,   that I’ve found particularly motivating and inspiring.   For me, they’ve stoked the fires of my own desires to step up to all the dreams and passions and potential that live within me.   I hope they do the same for you.
